Service Magic is at worst committing fraud, at best disorganized as it gets.

After contemplating using Service Magic to promote my business and paying a 99 dollar fee I used it for one day. Yes one day.

The first and only lead I received told me she had hired someone for the job a week and a half ago. That lead cost me 20 dollars.

So I promptly turned off the service and made sure I received confirmation stating such in writing.

I as a business owner would never do such a thing to my clients and expect the exact same treatment from someone I do business with.

I will wait and see if a background inquiry shows up on my identity protection reports. From my experience I am guessing it will not Service Magic probably never did it. It did after all only take two hours to get the go ahead from the background check.

Contractors and homeowners should beware Service Magic’s operation is not on the up and up.

I will stick with FIXR.com even though the leads come few and far between at least they are not taking money for work not completed.
By: Old Hat Wood Co.

I came here wanting to know about the pros and cons of Brainetics. Instead, the majority of comments have never tried the product, make wild assumptions and accusations obviously with no experience of the product and are a total waste of my time.

The Scam or Legit Info site needs a moderator who can get rid of this ill-informed, unreliable and time-wasting, irrelevant comment and just give us comments from people who have actually experienced the product.

Here, here to Sarah for providing her “truth” on the subject and to the University that will be hosting a session by the founder of Brainetics. It would be helpful if this website could verify these entries. I am still looking for people who have tried it and had problems that would make the system a scam.

In response to a comment about NASA, my friend is an Electronics Engineer and worked on telemetry for NASA during the moonshots. He visited the section that developed the technology that he used for each space flight to the moon. Expecting the team to comprise many hundreds of people he was surprised to find it was only five people. He said he had difficulty communicating with them in electronics principles as their mental capacity and grasp of the subject seemed so far ahead of his level. Calculators did not make the difference in this case. Why wouldn’t the same be true for mathematics?
By: PeterT

When I get to my parents home I was totally pissed because I have heard of this place running scams and scaring families. I call the # back and it rings like 4 times and goes beep beeep beep beep. That just didn’t sound right to me. Could you please find out for me who the idiots are. This crap happened to me atleast 4 times last year from 4 different companies stating that I owe them money. Then when you go online — these people dont even exist. I tried to file a complaint to the BBB but if you dont know where the company is located the site won’t let you go any further. I also did reverse phone lookup— and all it tells me is that is a toll free #. Please help so that I can resolve this mess. I don’t need any lies or scams!

After going to Service Magic’s website, I had to give my email address and phone number just to find out information. After deciding that I didn’t want to give this information, I clicked off of it, but it went through anyway. I was given 2 choices for new countertops. I decided I wasn’t interested in dealing with Service Magic, but about ten minutes later, I received a phone call from a Service Magic salesperson, who was very persistent, even though I told him that I changed my mind. I couldn’t get him off the phone. Ever since then, my email inbox has been inundated with hundreds of pieces of junk mail daily, so they must have sold my email address. This is one of their scams. I went to their website to complain, but could not find any contact information. Tried calling them on the phone, and I could’t even understand their voicemail options. It’s like doubletalk or gobblygook. (It’s actually humorous.) I would never trust a company like this and don’t recommend them. I consider them shady.
By: Livie

MJM Property Restoration worked on the electrical work in my home in January. They did a terrible job; the pole on the backside of my home recently fell because they only put two measly screws into the pole to hold it up against the side. I had live down wires and when they came out to fix it; they shut off my power to my home. After they were done putting the pole back up; they turned on my power and blew out my stove. My stove/oven was fried; dead and no longer working and they refused to acknowledge or pay for the damage. Instead they told me that it was simply my “appliances” fault and that it had absolutely NOTHING to do with the electrical work they did when the pole fell. How does a brand new top of the line Frigidaire oven/stove just die by itself? My stove was working just fine before they came out to do the electrical work. HAD they done the job right the first time; the pole would have never fell and they wouldn’t have had to come out to fix it. How did they fix the pole? They pretty much molded clay back where it broke off. They had the nerves to tell me that I had an outstanding balance from the service repair they did on the pole! And then they told me I was responsible for paying a $50 service fee for bringing out an “appliance” guy to look at my stove. This guy was no appliance guy; he asked to see the “manual” to the stove and pretty much told me the same thing MJM did. I will never refer or recommend this “property restoration” company to anyone. BEWARE of the work they do. I sure do not feel “safe and comfortable” and will be taking further measures to inspect the rest of the work they did and they will be held responsible for my BROKEN stove and the rest of the crappy job they did!

Eventual, I had to call and pay another appliance service company $335 to replace the motherboard clock/timer part on my stove. Had they fixed it and paid for the part and labor, I wouldn’t be writing this report; but unfortunately they refused to fix my stove and I haven’t heard anything from them!
By: mx

I bought the YBCR when my daughter was 10 months old. She is now 2.5 and is reading books like the llama llama series. She reads all the words in the program AND knows exactly what all those words mean. I don’t understand what people say when they say the kid can read only if they know what the word means. When I see a new word, I need to go to a dictionary sometimes to find out what the word means and then I memorize the meaning. I know how to read but I still need someone to tell me what the meaning is if it’s a word i’ve never heard of before. The program teaches your child the word and then shows them what the word means so my child can read rhinoceros and could point it out to you if she saw a picture of one. The reason I know the word Giraffe is an animal with a long neck is because someone told me that early in my life and I memorized it, not because I read the word out and just knew what it was. I believe my daughter learned alot from the program and I’m happy with that, I don’t believe she’ll be Einstein but that’s not what I’m expecting.
By: Mary

I rented a Avis car via Priceline for Oct. 14-17, 2011. I picked up the car in the evening of Oct. 14. As I drove to my destination, I had to pass through two tolls.

At the toll booth, I went through the “Cash” lanes rather than the “E-Z Pass” lanes. The first toll ($6.50) I paid with no associated problems. When I drove up to second toll ($1.75), the toll collector said the toll was automatically paid. It was only then that I discovered that there was an “E-Z Pass” devise mounted behind the rear view mirror. I indicated to the toll collector that I wished to pay the toll. The collector indicated that this toll was already paid and could not be reversed.

Please note I did not request a car with said devise; nor did I see it was there as it was dark (at night) and hidden behind the rear view mirror.

A few weeks later I noticed a charge of $9.25 from Avis on my credit card: $1.75 for the toll unpaid by me and a $7.50 service charge. I called Avis and explained all the aforementioned details. I indicated I was willing to pay $1.75 charge that I legitimately incurred but that I was not willing to pay the$7.50 service charge.

I was told I had to pay. I complained that I did not request the toll devise and that I was not even aware it was in the car until the toll was already paid. I indicated this was an unfair practice and, essentially, a fraudulent use of my credit card. The Avis personnel indicated that paying toll charges was my accountability as it was in the rental agreement contract. I did not dispute that assertion; however, I did reiterate my complaint about the service charge. The Avis personnel indicated they would refund $5.00 of the service charge but not the whole amount.

It is very apparent that Avis is conducting a scam on their customers in the hopes that their victims will not bother to fight the issue. The fact that they will refund part but not all of their fraudulent “service charge” is further proof of their shabby business practice.
