Obi Wan get’s mad, and then I do, lol
hi is that steven spielberg talking to george at 2:37 ?
I slightly disagree about the prequel lightsaber duels. There are many cinematic examples of beautifully choreographed and fast-paced combat that visualize the internal struggle of the characters. And when Obi Wan got pissed the tone of the fight did alter somewhat, though only within the film’s stunted emotional range. I think that Lucas’s inability to establish characters and emotional stakes gave the fight arrangers nothing to work with in that regard. Lucas has always been the weakest link.
I think they should have combined the last 3 movies done with CGI eye candy into ONE movie. They could have used effective character development, trimmed unnecessary characters (quigon whathisfucksname, Jar Jar Jackoff, ect) and used imagery correctly.
1:32 I never noticed before, she slips on the floor!
I love it when people try to defend the newer movies. Maybe its because they are under the age of 20.
”’Something, something, something ,…Darkside…
Go on IMDB.com and give this piece of shit 1 out of 10
“Ah, Christ, you brought the kid here too?” Ha ha ha ha!
George Lucas is the smartest hypocrite ever. Really
@boradis I agree. The faster lightsaber battles were probably the only part of the prequels that I liked. I agree with Plinkett that these specific battles lacked emotion but that seemed to have more to do with the story than the fight choreography. The characters were bland and they were fighting over something we didnt really care about.
Someone needs to show Lucas 9:30 and then summarily give him a swirly in the nearest toilet.
In the Ep. 4 duel, there was a great subtext to it that made it interesting. Let’s say you had no knowledge of Ep. 5 and beyond but just at that moment you got a great unspoken conflict between these two characters. Obi-Wan is facing his former student and he feels great shame and guilt over how this guy turned out. Vader was seeing his former master for the first time in years. He was carrying a grudge, a rivalry, bragging that he now was more powerful due to the teaching his master rejected.
“Special effects are just a tool: a means of telling a story. People have a tendency to confuse them as an ends unto themselves. A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing.”
Somebody needs to have this tattooed backwards on George Lucas’s ass.
@FlammaMan noticed that too, the films just seemed to meander around characters and their actions like a person floating around events in a dream state. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of detachment from the movie while watching, like I was watching a history channel show over WW2, except without a present and active Hitler, just a general or uber-solider here or there. No real story or emotions anywhere, just a history of the ‘goings ons’. In that sense it’s both a weird and bad set of films.
@darthspeaks Not sure about that, they’d have to abandon whatever ‘story’ that is ‘present’ in the 3, as it seems they tried, and failed, utterly, at converting some quasi-canonical book(s) lineage into a 3-part screenplay. The lineage story needs total abandoning for a new story, badly, because condensing what is already condensed story telling, and basically way, way, too over indulgent to be coherent *despite* having 3 films to do it, will only seem more-so disconnected and schizophrenic.
@darthspeaks It reminds me of the production(s) of Toy Story 2, Pixar made it and then had much the same problem, the rough-cut was horrid, there was no story really, just a bunch of character jokes and rummaging around, the internalized character emotions that we identified with in the original were now non-existent, or uninteresting and shallow. Despite Disney executive demands the Pixar directors bit the 200 million dollar bullet and started over rewriting everything.
@darthspeaks This is basically what Lucas, judging his own response at the viewing of ep.1′s rough-cut, should have done, he had the money, he just lacked his former artistic integrity and instead started making excuses and rationalization hours after he grabbed his head in disgust at his creation. The only thing that can fix it now is a new prequel story, because they already did the first three without making a stop and fixing it, it’s a F* lineage, needs total overhaul and public memory loss.
“Why is there a child sized helmet and goggles in the cockpit” LOL Bring the child to a warzone. Bring the child into your planned attack area. Tell child to stay in combat spacecraft to remain safe. Take orders from 14 year old elected Monarch. Spacecraft flies to enemy command ship on it’s own. Nothing gets through shield unless flown directly into it. And damn you are spot on about the significance of the duels. Every dual in the original was deep. Every duel in the prequels was tedious.
He is so right about lightsaber fights – a lightersaber fight as about internal conflict between two people not showing eye candy. A fight is a theatrical DEVICE that conveys conflict between two or more people. Throwing a fight into a movie because you don’ have proper character development is like throwing shit on a chocolate cake and calling it done (despite the smell to the otherwise). I mean shit and chocolate are both brown, right?
The blockade being gone makes sense. Why would they keep the blockade after taking over the entire planet?
I agree with you about Anakin and Obi Wan’s fight at the end of Episode 3 shouldn’t have been that long and was way too goofy in the places they fought like swinging on ropes and shit, but then again Obi Wan trained Anakin and they had been fighting together for like 15 years or some shit. So they know and can predict pretty well what moves they each are going to use, so it makes sense the fight was longer than any other fight. But yes it still was too long, could have been a bit shorter.
@Slip819 He made excuses for why he didn’t get deep into the Star Wars mythos: the actual creation of the Empire, etc. because he was “waiting for Revenge of the Sith”. First of all, laying all your cards on the table for one chip is pretty risky as it is. Secondly, if you consider the prequels a tragedy (in a Shakespearean way, not a soul-destroying way) you need the first two to be strong as well to have that grand payoff at the end. Otherwise, it just doesn’t mean much.
@Slip819 I never knew that. Interesting. That’s exactly what happened with Shrek 2. You don’t see Jeffrey Katzenberg or Andrew Adamson apologizing for it or shilling out to actually fix the script. That’s why Pixar’s so great, the people working there actually have artistic integrity. They care for their work. And I hope that continues because the cynic in me is just waiting to see when Pixar will sell out.
@darthspeaks Plinkett nailed it right on when he theorized Lucas didn’t know how to write a truly compelling scene so he just shoved a lightsaber duel in the movies whenever he could to distract the audience. Something similar happened in the Matrix sequels. And Revenge of the Fallen. But it didn’t bother me in ROTF because my expectations for the movie to be a compelling drama was pretty low to begin with. :}.
Credit reports show last 60 months payment history on each account
Most of my banks do not look at anything older then 6-months as far as late pays go.
If you cleaned up your behavior, most items fall off after 7 years. Many lenders are more concerned with the last 2 to 3 years unless it is a large dollar amount.
Any outstanding payment due more than 3 months.
in general rout credit report retains information for 10 years.
