I had to laugh. I am at Gonzaga University and in my “christian Morality” class we are reading a book called “Justice and Peace. ” Abortion and Euthanasia are completely ignored. To top it all off the professor is a Proportionalist. Perhaps you might like to talk about that condemned teaching as well. It is taught frequently at universities along with liberation theology.

Michael gets to the point and makes it clearly and honestly.

I think such things are like saying “Gay doesn’t mean homosexual, it means happy!” The words have been stolen, and before we can effectively take them back we need to put a stop to the evil behaviours.

You don’t need ‘permission’ from your priest to attend Latin Mass! If you feel moved by the spirit to celebrate either Novus Ordo Latin or TLM, by all means you should/must go! A Latin Mass experience could be a great spiritual exercise and bring a number of great blessings, plus a great understanding of the Faith. I don’t know how in charity to explain what sounds like your priest trying to manipulate you by saying you’d run away if you attended Latin Mass. That is bizaare.

Your situation sounds . . . complex. BUT getting knowledge about the faith is ALWAYS a good idea!

Thanks so much for all the good insight :) My hubby, who’s a Christian (but if ya ask him he’ll say he’s a Druid – another long story), thinks that the Priest is afraid that I will leave the Parish, thus he will lose a friend and an ally. Since my dress will be coming in the next week, I plan on starting my “detox” by watching Father C on EWTN. I figure I’d better get a solid grounding on my Catechesis before anything else – it starts tonight :) Good idea?

@lauran08, if you can find a Latin Novus Ordo Mass, you’d be going to the type of Mass your priest is trying to keep you going to, and you’d be getting it in Latin. :P In reality, though, the response below (above?) is right. No Priest has the right to tell parishoners what Mass they may or may not attend. If you feel that you’d be able to center yourself better by attending a TLM on occassion, by all means do so. It’ll certainly be helpful once you start working in those parish ministries!

  8. RealCatholicTV says:

Your priest has no right to tell you you cannot attend whatever Mass you desire. Thanks to the Pope’s Latin Mass moto proprio, you are ENTITLED to a Latin Mass if you so desire.

Been talking to my priest about all this plus other things within my parish. I asked if I could attend a Latin Mass (as soon as I get my dress. . . long story), just to “detox” from all the weird stuff going on at the parish, just once a month or once every 2 months. . . Priest said “no”. He said I would be running away if I did that. He told me to join a ministry in the parish, then slowly promote my ideas.

Before the election a priest told parishioners at Mass that voting for a pro-abortion candidate when a pro-life candidate was on the ballot was not a sin because no candidate was going to end abortion and we should remember the poor! William Ayers, SDS/Weatherunderground fame, coined the phrase “social justice” while at Columbia. We need to cut off funds to CCHD-the only way to stop the fraud against Catholics!
