What is the best AP review book for AP Biology? – Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Video Game Review) S1E7
Here is the Question: What is the best AP review book for AP Biology?
Hello! I’m currently the freshman at the high school in Georgia and I’m taking the AP Bio and AP Stats next year as a sophomore. I’m planning to study the AP Bio in this summer vacation before next year.
1) Can you recommend me a good AP Biology review book? (Barron or Cliffnotes or Princeton, etc.)
2) Do you know any Biology-study book designed to the level or regular high school Biology?
Thank you!

Princeton Review in my opinion. You should read this review to help you figure it out: It agrees with me that Princeton Review is good, but it says Barrons can be good sometimes too.
But it was based on Silent hill.
Hence the town named silent hill.
Its kinda sad that you cant look past the movie not being connected to the game.
According to the canon plot of silent hill, or whatever we know about it, the possibility of Pyramid head showing himself in other peoples psyches is quite possible.
first off no the point was that he was only to be seen by james they ruined that with homecomming
and thats not wat i have a problem with my problem is that he served no purpose in the movie in homecomming it was arguable that he was still the punisher of sins and all that jazz
@ares5566 this is bullshit. It didnt ruin anything, it is a RE-IMAGINATION not a REMAKE. Yamaoka is awesome as always, the plot is nice, the graphics are great for a Wii, the psychological background is present and well written, the cellphone + interaction with the wiimote is good, and the four endings are entertaining and sad as always. It feels great like any other Silent Hill. No metaphorical background? Lol, you didnt even played it did you?
no dude i love shattered memories rofl
im talking about the movie that was just shit
sry bout the confusion
As usual, a great Silent Hill game. I hear there’s alot of fan boys out there crying about the movie, as well as Homecoming, and I don’t see why. I did find this game creepier than Homecoming, but the very first game made about Silent Hill isn’t scary at all. I mean, zombie gnomes at Midwich school. Woah I was scared. At any rate just finished the game and it turned out to be alot more than I expected. I end up with a game about psychology. I’m amazed by this game and it calls for replays. Many!
I got this game. And it is really aweomse i beat it in less that 15 hours because i played it non stop hehe
i was thinking of buying this for the psp since soon ill be doing a lot of travelling for a few days and ive played all my psp games but im not a big survival horror fan(scariest game i ever played was bioshock:P)but thinking of trying it,should i try it?
@Suchaku
Because the movie (and Homecoming) seem to completely miss the point of what Silent Hill is all about. It just throws Pyramid Head at the screen (who is irrelevant when not talking about Silent Hill 2) and shout “there you go, Silent Hill!”.
No, Silent Hill is about the characters, and how the come into the overarching plot, monsters simply being there to screw with them.
Shattered Memories is a great game, and it seems closer to the source material, but it’s still missing a few things
It’s only good on the psp but it dosen’t have the guns and stuff from the original
I just beat the game and my jaw dropped at the ending I got
Meh.. I heard that all you do is run away from the monsters, no killings at all..
And the monsters are all the same…
i actually like the no weapons idea give way much more of a scare i play all Penumbras for the PC and in most of those you didn’t have weapons but where still fun and scary as hell
An awesome game with revolutionary and original gameplay. Don’t judge it until you at least give it the benefit of a play-through. You’ll be very surprised to see just how fun a game with no combat system can be!
i’m not in the air force, i don’t run from the enemy. i actually fight them.
this game shattered my memories of good SH games
@imbadatnames390 lol dude bioshock is so not a horror game, its an action game!
@moogledotcom
I know, but there was that part in fort frolic in the iceman part where there’s scary music:Pat the time that was the closest thing I had ever played to a survival horror, but since then I’ve played dead space
im so happy that this is on ps2 bcoz i want this game
this looks really good
and for all those who say, “well it’s dumb cause there’s no fighting” if you want all fighting, go out and buy yourself an xbox and halo. get over the fact that some people like change in video games, not the same game over and over. If you really hate it that much save me the whiney comments and here’s a thought… DON’T BUY IT
my english sucks, but did i heard it right? no weapons?
@ares5566 The game is the game, the movie is the movie. Respect each one for what it is.
no the movie was a piece of crap that didnt need to exist
I love this game, this and Silent Hill for PSX are the only games that have scared me!
1) When I’ve polled my AP Bio students, the two they preferred were Cliff Notes and Princeton Review. If you have any friends currently in AP Bio, ask to see if you can take a look at their books, that way you can compare similar sections and get a sense of what works best for you (you might also be able to borrow or buy the book from them for cheap!). So long as it’s from the last year or two, there shouldn’t be any real difference between it and the newest one. If you’re interested in other alternatives, my students have really liked the lectures done by the guy at http://www.brightstorm.com/ap/ap-biology He does a good job of explaining some of the hardest topics that’ll be on the AP test, occasionally highlighting ways to earn more points on the essays. He also has a bunch of bonus materials, some of which I’ve used in my own classroom. There’s a free sample video that you can watch to get a sense if it would be of any use to you.
2) I don’t know of any specific book targeted at the regular level Bio course, but a book I’ve used in the past to supplement my text book is “The Cartoon Guide to Genetics” http://www.amazon.com/Cartoon-Guide-Genetics-Updated/dp/0062730991 It covers a lot of the basic topics you encounter in any bio class (genetics, cell division, DNA, protein synthesis, mutation, biotechnology, etc) in a very “non-threatening,” understandable way. Some of the jokes are a bit dated (for example, when discussing amino acids, there’s jokes about the African dictator Idi Amin from the 1970′s), but even my young son (6th grade) was able to read it and follow what it was talking about (I had it in my car and he started reading it out of boredom, but actually enjoyed it).
